PILE FOUNDATION
The purpose of the piling system is to provide adequate support and transfer the loads to a more suitable soil at a greater depth than the conventional foundation solutions. Vidson Construction is a specialized company in piling works & use various latest techniques and equipment.
The bearing capacity of the pile is based on the soil properties and the type of method used to install the foundation piles. Vertical piles may also be designed to resist lateral forces due to wind action, seismic parameters, or others.
The pile diameters can vary from usually 500mm up to 2000mm in very special case. Pile Foundations are usually socketed into good quality soil / rock to limit the settlements. For pile drilling/ boring, typically hydraulic rotary piling rigs are used having interlocking type Kelly bars, three to four telescopic sections, in order to reach great depths even up to 50.0m - 60.0m. In hard rock, weathered or not, bored cast in situ piles can be drilled using specialized tools.
Various piling system are available in the Ground Engineering Industry and most suitable technique amongst them can be selected to suit the specific ground conditions, the water table, the site environmental constrains and the Client Specifications.
The common pile types based on construction technique are:
-
Bored cast-in-situ piles.
-
Driven cast-in-situ piles.
-
Precast driven piles.
-
Continuous Flight Auger piles.
